I have the honour to enclose a copy of a letter

which we have received from Mrs Annie Speed, respecting

the death of her husband, r.J.L. Speed, a warder in the

Pensions Department of Hong Kong, and to enquire what

action should be taken in the matter. Until the end

of November Mrs.Speed drew through this office an

allotment of £7:10:-Od a month from her husband's salary

but a telegram from the Colonial Government dated the

9th December instructed us to discontinue payment of

the allotment.
